Handout for September 2012 Visiting Teaching

These are printable note cards, that go along with the message that suggests that you could maintain contact with the sisters that you teach in different ways.  This particular way focused on the suggestion of writing notes of encouragement.  Here are your printable note cards.  Save to your computer and then print on white card stock. See the message on my other blog at http://visitingteachingtips.blogspot.com

Visiting Teaching Message handout for August 2012

I made this cute handout to go with this particular lesson.  The image is of Florence Nightengale, and if you want to see how it ties in, then go to my other blog http://visitingteachingtips.blogspot.com and you will find out.  Also on that blog, I list the link to the LDS.org message in it's entirety.

To go with this, I thought since Florence Nightengale was a nurse, that I needed to come up with a Prescription for Visiting Teaching.  So here you go... a couple of perscriptions ready to go, and a couple not filled in yet.

With these you could take an empty jar filled with M&M's and add to the Persctiption to take a handfull daily, or write in the perscription area something like...." Eat more chocolate... they say it is good for you!" or something like that.  Also you could give something healthy and say... "An apple a day keeps the doctor away" or some other piece of sage wisdom you might want to impart.

I was also thinking that if you got a pill box or a compartmental container you could fill each little section up with different kinds of candies.  The perscription could read:  Try one of each daily to determine which one has the best effect on you, then eat all of them!

In the mean time, I came accross some absolutely darling little gifts that you can give, at this site.  They are low cost, fun messages, that would be fun to give.  They are meant for Christmas gifts for neighbors, but I think most of them could be given anytime to anybody.  Very cute and the blog is great too.  http://www.brownpaper--packages.com/2010/12/31-cheesy-but-darling-neighbor-gift.html

Another cute idea I thought of was to fill a pint jar with uplifting quotes that can be called 'A quote a day keeps the blues away" or something like that.  Put a soft lid on it and tie a ribbon around it.  Sorry, I don't have time to make a label but if you go to this site, you can print a ready made one off to go on the jar then personalize it.

LDS Decor

LDS Décor, a an online store that sells beautiful temple pictures. Recently, they approached me to do post on them , and that was very easy for me to do because I found that I already had one of their pictures hanging up on a wall of my house.  The combination of unique temple images, and their beautiful frames, creates an absolutely beautiful picture!  These frames are so georgeous they have been featured in movies, the White house, and hotels.  Go to  www.ldsdecor.com and you’ll be able to view all their temple images.
LDS Décor sent me an example of their work and I was a bit afraid of the condition it would be in when it arrived.  I should not have worried because I could see how carefully LDSdecor package their pictures, to ensure that they arrive at their destination intact, without blemish and ready to hang up on the wall. It was as snug as a bug in a rug, if you get what I mean! They offer free s hipping in the USA and Canada but will ship all around the world as well, though you pay shipping.  There is also a 30 day, no questions asked guarantee on their products.
LDS Décor is a new branch of a family owned company that has been manufacturing picture frames and other décor items since the 1980’s.  Their products can be found in homes throughout the world, as well as in galleries, museums, hotels, churches and also have been featured in magazines, movies, and television programs.  Their frames are all done by hand, except for the initial cutting, and are sanded, painted, leafed and decaled, creating a beautiful accent to already lovely temple art.

GIVEAWAY:  They are doing a giveaway right now and the winners are getting a temple necklace with the temple of your choice.  You just have to go to their facebook page and "Like" them, and leave a comment on their wall of what your favorite temple is.  Simple as that!
If you are looking for beautiful Temple art for your home, office, church or wherever, you should go check out http://www.ldsdecor.com

July 2012 Visiting teaching Message handout

This month's message is about Loving one another and becoming disciples of Christ.  I created this printable to be as a stand alone handout for you or your sisters or both, and if you want, you can frame it. (Keep the costs down, and go to a $1 store and find an 81/2 x 11 frame and put this in it)  I shared on my http://visitingteachingtips.blogspot.com my thoughts about this months message, and if you will go read it, you will see and understand more about this message.

I picked the last verse of some poetry written by Edgar A. Guest, as it describes what I feel is the message of providing  humble service and the things we do don't need to be elaborate, expensive,  but we can show our love and friendship through "simple things", and become disciples of Christ in the process.

Feel free to copy this for yourself and the sisters you visit teach.  Enjoy, Katie G

Fathers Day Card Printable

I whipped up this cute Fathers Day card, thinking that some of you may have a need for one.  I made it generic for any father, brother, grandfather, etc.  Personalize inside the card.  I probably missed my calling in life, when I didn't write greetings for hallmark, so I thought I would come up with some verses that could be include with your sentiments inside the card.

"Now go tie one on" to go with a 6 pack of root beer in bottles

or

"You are a Tied and True Dad" (play on the words tried and true)

or

"I think it's time for a new tie" and give the card with a nice new tie

or

"I get tongue tied thinking of the right words to say to you so..." then go on to write a few nice comments.

or

"I couldn't think of which tie to buy
So take this card instead,
because sometimes my best efforts
get mixed up in my head".

or

Money can't buy a great enough gift,
To express my love for you,
So I will write it down for posterity's sake,
and this card will have to do.

or

"I tried to find the perfect tie,
I looked from dawn till dark,
I sorted  patterns, stripes and plain,
They all seemed to miss the mark

So when I saw this card, I thought,
I'll get this one for my honey,
And you can pick out the perfect tie,
With this stack of money".

Those should get you going.  If you come up with any others that are cute that uses the play on words of "TIE" then please comment and share with the rest of us.  Enjoy!  Katie G

P.S.  By the way, if you don't know by now, I am not a very serious person and like to laugh and have humor, so none of these verses are meant to be a serious sentiment.  They were meant to put a smile on the face of the receiver and the giver.

May 2012 Visiting Teaching Handout

I would like to direct you first to my other blog...ttp://visitingteachingtips.blogspot.com to read the message I chose to give for this month from the Conference talks.

Once you have read it I think this picture will have more significance.  The quotes on the frame are from the talk I chose. Here is the printable you can use if you like.  I think it would look nice framed.  I found some cute 8 x 10 black frames at a local dollar store or you could just give it out unframed.  It turned out nicely.

Enjoy!  Katie G.

Two sided bookmark for Visiting teaching

I am in the process of creating a new little Printable business, and I had designed this cute little chick.  I thought it might be fun for a V.T. Bookmark, so here you go... enjoy!
Katie G.

You know what they say about old friends and antiques? They grow more valuable with time.

Glad that you dropped by my blog!

This blog and it's contents go hand in hand with my Visiting Teaching Tips and handouts blog found at http://visitingteachingtips.blogspot.com/ If you by accident get to this blog first, make sure to go back to the other one and see all that there is for you there. This is sort of my overflow or stroage blog because I can't keep everything there, so I add my creations to this storage unit and that is my Visiting Teaching Surprise for you. Sometimes however, I do put in things that I think you would enjoy even if they aren't specifically related to Visiting Teaching, but my vision in life is that if I take all the time to make things, I may as well share them and get more use out of them. Sorta like hand me downs but brand new "Down loads". I hope you enjoy these freebies. Drop me a note to say hello in the comments under the downloads posts.
