The Good Shepherd
Merry Christmas, and I pray for each of you that as you follow the example of Jesus Christ, our Good Shepherd, that you too will draw in the sheep that are not of this fold, or those that are, and let them feel of your kindness and love. Serve them, love them, do as He did and become their Shepherd. Let your kindness not only last throughout this glorious Christmas season, and throughout the entire year. The job of Shepherding is never over, because there will always be sheep who will stray, or need you to draw them in with your friendship. Find them, let them know your voice and serve as Visiting Teaching shepherds. Best wishes, Katie G

Printables by Katie has your November freebie waiting for you.
I am so excited to announce that finally after so much work, I am launching my new printables site. It isn't yet really how I want it, because I am doing it all by myself, and there are some technical things I don't know how to do, but I decided to jump in with both feet and just get it going. I have some darling new Thanksgiving and Christmas printables on my site and I am offering each print for only a dollar, as my grand opening special. I have some LDS oriented printables on my blog and will continue to add more, as I have time to do it. It simply just takes time. Wish there were more hours in the day.
I hope you have enjoyed all the printables I have created over the past 7 years, and put on this blog and my other blogs, and don't worry, I won't neglect them either. I just felt like it would be nice after doing it all for free, to actually get a little bit back for a change. I am saving my shekels to hire a builder of an ecommerce website so that I can actually take credit cards, but for now, it will be done the old fashioned way. Please take a moment and go to my new www.printablesbykatie.com and you can make a request for a download there.. It is really cute, and vintage as I found the image at the Library of congress and was so excited. This is freebie is a great printable to print and frame and take with you to your sisters that you Visit teach. Tell them to keep the frame and every holiday you can come to my blog and see what new art I have come up with for the next holiday or season of year. (Sorry about the Watermark on Santa Subway Art, but he only costs $1 for my grand opening special, and I wanted you to see how cute he is!)
My new website is still under construction, however I can arrange to send you what you are looking for, and go to the contact page and request what you are looking for.
I have barely scratched the surface with my new business, and have so many darling things I have created, but just have to come up with the time to post them. Keep checking in regularly and follow me on Pinterest, and I will keep you up on the newest things. Oh and by the way... the Santa Subway art turned out absolutely beautiful. It is pictured on the top of this post. The Jesus Christ, Wonderful, Counselor, is also really nice, and good for any occasion too.
It is really late, so I am going to bed, but don't forget to go get your freebie!!!!! Enjoy, Katie G www.printablesbykatie.com

Hurrican Sandy; How can we help?
Hurricane Sandy has hit, and it's widespread devastation is now just being assessed and the stories are being told. Rather than create a pretty picture for you to print off and give to those you Visit teach, I suggest instead that all of us do something to help with this great disaster that has fallen upon the East Coast States. Here is a link to keep you up on those stories. http://www.deseretnews.com/article/765614143/Hurricane-Sandy-Stories-from-the-center-of-the-superstorm.html
I found a wonderful article written in the Deseret News, written by Joseph Walker, on Oct., 29th, about what Mormons were doing to prepare for this disaster. You can find it at this link http://www.deseretnews.com/user/comments/865565603/As-Mormons-prepare-for-Hurricane-Sandy-they-live-their-faith.html

When a disaster of this perportion strikes anywhere in the world, most people react with sadness, and disbelief, and bewilderment, but quickly their mind takes them to the next step... "What can I do to help with this disaster?" Our church once again has the answers and this article tells that the LDS Church is called upon by the American Red Cross, to help fill the needs. I loved the tour of the Bishops Storehouse, that was a segment on the Rock Center program some weeks ago. The show was focused on meeting Mormons in America and this was just a part of the segment. It was awe inspiring to see how prepared our church is to help at a moments notice. this is the link to that video clip however it is at the end of the program but well worth waiting to see. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21134540/vp/48774023#48774023
How can we help?
- Well I certainly don't have all the answers, but I know that donations are gladly accepted by the American Red Cross and they go directly to the efforts that they are making on behalf of those who are suffering.
- We can help and donate at the humanitarian center, who provides food, clothing and supplies needed during disasters. My best guess is that there will be crates labeled with "LDS Church" on the outside of them, being delivered to assist.
- I feel certain that your sons, our Missionaries will be out in full force helping in the neighborhoods who have great need of service.
- If you live in that area, after you have taken care of your own family and secured their safety then you can reach out and help your neighbors. Maybe your food storage could be well served by sharing with your neighbors. Hope you are prepared and heeded the council of our prophets for years to have your food storage. I have always felt that my food storage really wasn't mine, but for me to share and help my children, friends, and family in need.

I'm a Mormon, I know it, I love it, I live it.
These are my new printables for you, from Sister Dibbs message from General Conference. We all need to be more bold in our expression of the love we have for our religion. We need not shrink when we are asked, but boldy say, "I am a Mormon, I know it, I love it, I live it". What more needs to be said? Hopefully you will have an opportunity to share more of your beliefs. Be bold and share the gospel whenever you have the opportunity.
I also printed these bookmarks too thinking that if you print these off, you can keep them with you and when you converse with someone about being a Mormon, just give them one of these. Sign your name on the back of it and include the phone number of the missionaries in your area. Who knows where this tiny missionary experience will lead?
I just submitted a book to a publishing company that I wrote a couple of months ago. It is called "I met a Mormon". When I listened to the talks today in Conference, I realized how in tune I was in the writing of this book. I pray that the message in that book will be shared, and that the publishing company will see in it, what I do. It is needed to help our youth know how they can live their religion just by being who they are, and setting an example others will look to as they learn about Mormons.
Enjoy the Printables, Katie G

God Give Us Men!
I found this wonderful poem by Josiah Gilbert Holland about who we should elect as our president. It gave me pause for thought and I hope it does the same for you. I felt prompted to design this up nicely and pass this on. I also found a very well written quote that is a fabulous follow-up to this quote:
"Author and publisher, J. G. Holland, composed this sonnet well over a century ago. His cry that God would intervene and provide our nation with committed public servants is as timely today as when he first wrote these lines. It is still our privilege as free citizens to vote for a candidate of our choice. It is also our duty, since people are up for election or reelection periodically, to petition God, that he will grant the placement of men or women into office who will prove themselves worthy of the position. And let us remember they are accountable to God, not merely us, for their conduct". Clyde Brogan

You know what they say about old friends and antiques? They grow more valuable with time.
Glad that you dropped by my blog!
This blog and it's contents go hand in hand with my Visiting Teaching Tips and handouts blog found at http://visitingteachingtips.blogspot.com/ If you by accident get to this blog first, make sure to go back to the other one and see all that there is for you there. This is sort of my overflow or stroage blog because I can't keep everything there, so I add my creations to this storage unit and that is my Visiting Teaching Surprise for you. Sometimes however, I do put in things that I think you would enjoy even if they aren't specifically related to Visiting Teaching, but my vision in life is that if I take all the time to make things, I may as well share them and get more use out of them. Sorta like hand me downs but brand new "Down loads". I hope you enjoy these freebies. Drop me a note to say hello in the comments under the downloads posts.
